Can I replace my boiler with a tankless water heater?
We have a 3 unit multifamily home with radiator heat about 2400 finished square feet on 3 levels in the DC area. I was shocked at my $350 heating bill for November, but was absolutely blown away at my $500 bill for December. Can I replace my boiler it's at least 20 years old with a tankless water heater to save money and energy?

I have shower, 2 sinks, dish and clothes washers. What do I need to run 2 of these at once say clothes and shower. I want to get a good one, probably elec. but I'm plumbed for gas too. Have an odd problem with a tankless water heater need to find a fix, see details?
During a shower, the water is fine then approx 5 to 15 minutes into the shower the water turns icy cold, if I switch the knob from shower to tub like to fill the bathub it turns hot within two or three minutes and I turn it back to shower and it is hot again. During a 20 to 30 min shower this can happen one or two times. However if I go to fill a tub with hot water, which itself can take 20 to thirty minutes it fills to the brim with hot water. ideas?
If you have an electric tankless water heater help?
I would like to know about them and if they work good or not. I hear the gas ones are great but tell me about the electric ones. we have kids and 2 bathrooms and like hot showers. do they put out hot water? how about your electric bill? what kind do you have? what do you recomend? Thank you
Is it possible to use a tankless water heater with a tank one?
i live in a levitt house in new york and we just renovated the bathroom downstairs stripped it to the beams and put in new everything soo the new showers got like a 10inch rain dome and 3 body sprayers and a hand held i dont use all 3 at once just the dome and the body sprayers its been done about a week and i enjoy it so much i stay in there a long time or at least untill the water starts getting coldwe got a pretty new 50 gallon gas water heater me my dad and cousin put it in a year or 2 ago so getting a new one is outta the question i was thinking could you use a tankless as a backup for the tank when it starts getting cold?
Why does a tankless water heater need a stainless steel vent?
From what I understand a Rinnai tankless water heater needs a stainless steel vent. Why can it not use the vent from my old water heater?
Tankless water heater won't mix hot and cold water without giving all of one or the other?
If I turn on the hot water in my tankless water heater, it only puts out hot water. That's good because that's what it's supposed to do. However when I turn on the cold water faucet, the hot water goes off and I only get cold water. I can't understand how turning on the cold water can affect the hot water my tankless hot water heater gas is producing. Any info would be great How can I fix it?
Can I have an electric tankless water heater in an apartment rental?
I am clueless about tankless water heaters other than I like the idea of it. My apartment has an old electric water heater. I'd like to get a tankless but I dont want it permanantly installed. Is there a way to just disconnect the old one and have this one installed so it can be reversed if I move out? and can the average joe install one or is it pretty complicated if one is good at following directions?We use very little hot water as it is so the smallest unit is all we would need.
Tankless water heater question?
I currently have a standard natural gas 40 gallon water heater that I would like to switch over to a tankless system I currently have a weil mcclain boiler for my hot water heat, but wondered if I could just switch out the current hot water heater with a tankless. Or is there more involved ? Will the boiler just call for hot water from the new tankless heater, or is there a change in plumbing that needs to be done??
Electric Storage water heater to Gas Tankless water heater?
With all the rebate incentives, I'm thinking about going from a 50 gallon Electric storage water heater made in 2002 to a natural gas tankless water heater. How much will I expect to save a year? It's just two of us in the household, but we're planning on expanding the family. Our current electric bill is about $60 per month. After all the rebates, the price to upgrade would be about $900 including installation. Is it worth the investment?
