Question: Rinnai tankless hot water heater?

(Posted by: dickenerfelheimer on 2007-12-27 20:10:18)

I recently moved into a home with a tankless water heater. When my husband or I take a shower, the water goes from boiling hot to freezing cold and back again several times without touching the tap handle. Does anyone know what the problem is or how to fix it? It is a relatively new system (3 years) and was recently inspected. The temp is set on 125 degrees F.

There is a problem with the temp/ flow switch. It is best to call a professional. Describe the problem, and give them all the numbers (model and serial) before they come out. That way the tech should have the correct parts when he comes out.

I've heard good and bad about these heaters, 1st ?, is someone else useing hot water somewhere in the house. that could be part of your trouble, i.e. your in the shower and hubby decide to do dishes or a load of laundry. may turn it up a bit more, too.

You might not be using enough water to keep the unit running. It has a safety system when not enough water flows and there by it would get to hot it shuts the heater off. Here is what you need to do. Turn your shower head to full hot than slowly turn the knob toward cold until the proper temp is achieved. Than leave it. Good luck

These thing are great for sinks but for the shower they suck a big one. if your truely worried about it get a real hot water heater. gas preferably. the gas will usually keep going even in a power loss.
