Actually tankless on-demand water heaters are quite energy efficient, as there is no loss of heat from storing hot water in a convnetional tank. They do draw a lot of energy (electricty, gas, or propane) when they are being used, but so does a tank-style water heater. The tankless water heater will use less energy becuase there is no thermal loss in the tank, but if you need a lot of volume of hot water, like for a family all having a shower in the morning, the tankless water heater can't keep up. |
